Maybe not the brightest spark in their marketing team thought up the name for this one, but they clearly used a pretty clever winemaker. This is consistently a great wine and well priced for it's quality and accolades. The nose exhibits ripe lemon and grapefruit characters. This is interwoven with subtle oak and lees and a lovely creaminess. The palate is incredibly balanced with power and poise. Awarded as one of Top 10 NZ chardonnays from Cuisine Magazine.

Crossroads Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2010
This is a great of example of how new world chardonnay is being produced in NZ. The nose of this wine is complex and concentrated - lots of savoury characters complementing some white peach and lemon curd, with buttery nuances wrapped around the outside of it all. The palate is vibrant with acids that drive the flavour of the wine right across the palate. This vibrancy can be tasted in the juicy pear and white peach flavours. Complimenting this lovely fruit are fine leesy notes lingering on the very long finish, wrapped in some judicially managed seasoned oak.

Kidnapper Cliffs Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2009
The 2009 is a stunning debut vintage for this wine. The Kidnapper Cliffs Chardonnay shows a nose of vanilla spice, Christmas lilies and grapefruit all under-pinned with subtle oak. The palate is well structured and firm but this does not detract from the rich, sweet fruit. Flavours of lemon honey, and an undercurrent of toasted spice bread combine with a structural minerality.

Spy Valley 'Envoy' Marlborough Chardonnay 2007
A word of warning, this is serious, and seriously good, chardonnay. The Spy Valley Envoy Chardonnay shows a nose of roast nuts mingled with citrus and fig fruit aromas, and faint notes of wet stones. The palate is precise and focused with a cleansing, mineral finish. Delicate hazel nut and complex secondary flavours will emerge with bottle age.
