Martinborough Vineyards Pinot Gris 2010
This is serious pinot gris folks - perhaps the closest to Alsace we have tried from a NZ producer. A rich wine with aromas of ripe pear and spice flavours, with floral notes in the background. Texture is the key element, this wine shows mouth-filling richness and smoothness on the palate that is well balanced by its phenolic weight and ripeness. A small amount of residual sugar (9.5g/L) balances the textural elements of this wine.

Urlar Martinborough Pinot Gris 2010
Certified Organic. We ere absolutely blown away when first tasting this Pinot Gris from Urlar. This is a drier style (just 2.0gms residual) with aromas of sweet pear, honeysuckle and stonefruit overlaying a generous mouthfeel of great weight and depth. A wonderfully textural example of pinot gris where the winemaker has achieved a perfect balance. 96/100 Huon Hooke SMH 06/12/2011

Black Estate Waipara Pinot Noir 2009
The Black Estate Pinot Noir gives a bouquet of bright red cherry, black plum, vanilla, dried herb, aniseed, chalk, and earth. A textural and rich entry with succulent red and black fruits. Very structured tannins emerge giving the wine a savory and powerful mid pallet that leads to a lengthy finish. Powerful Waipra example.

Brodie Estate Martinborough Pinot Noir 2008
We love finding boutique little gems like, made with real skill and passion. This is such a great example of Martinborough Pinot Noir. A wonderflul bouquet, both fruity and floral, framed by elegant oak aromas which give a touch of cigar smoke complexity, vanilla and a note of fudge. The palate is almost sweet initially, framed by a great tannin structure and subtle spice on a long finish.

This superb wine, made from 28 year old vineyard blocks, is named after Marie Zelie Hermance Frere who was the first winemaker in the Wairarapa, planting a selection of vines in the late 19th century. Previously known as the ‘Reserve’ Pinot Noir but in 2003 reverted to the first Marie Zelie Pinot Noir which sold out on release and this was followed by the 2006.
