New Zealand  Gewurztraminer

Spy Valley Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2011
Luscious Marlborough Gewurztraminer with a chestful of awards and accolades. This wine is fruit-driven in style, typically with intense aromas of rose-petal, Turkish delight and lychee with a full-bodied, oily palate. One of our favourites.

Lawsons Dry Hills Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2009
The nose is classical Gewürztraminer with rose petal, lychee and musk. Behind these aromas you also find passionfruit, lemon, ginger and coriander seed aromas. A fantastic Gewurztraminer, and always outstanding value. No less than 3 golds and 6 silvers for this vintage!!

Forrest Estate 'The Valleys' Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2008
We rated this a solid 4+ stars, and at a great price. Star anise, freshly-grated ginger and lychees on the nose while the palate shows molten Turkish Delight, exotic spices and a rich luscious texture. Made by one of the masters of NZ aromatics, John Forrest.

Spy Valley Envoy Marlborough Gewurztraminer 2011
The nose of the Spy Valley Envoy gives aromas of manuka honey, ripe peach and an underlying rose petal signature. The palate is generous and rich, following the nose with a similar flavour profile. Beautifully balanced and still looking very fresh. 96/100 Gourmet Traveller wine!

Stonecroft 'Old Vines' Hawkes Bay Gewurztraminer 2009
This is a seriously good Gewurztraminer, made from well-established vines in the Gimblett Gravels. The 2009 was picked very ripe and has a powerful aromatic bouquet with a fat texture and grainy, spicey finish. It is off dry, ie medium residual sugar and very easy drinking now. 96 Points awarded.

Vinoptima Ormond Gisborne Gewurztraminer 2006
If you love Gewurz, you cannot go past this wine. Lauded by many as the best available outside of Alsace, we agree - it's a superb wine. Made by one of the pioneers of the NZ wine industry, Nick Nobilo, in his vineyard now dedicated solely to Gewurztraminer.
