New Zealand White Wine

We all know that NZ is famous for it’s Sauvignon Blancs, particularly Marlborough – and with good reason. It’s a great drop and we see more and more stunning examples coming on to the market each vintage. There are some other fantastic white wines coming out of NZ that we would also encourage you to try. Chardonnay from Gisborne and Hawkes Bay is back in fashion and you’ll find the ‘over-oaked’ style is no longer prevalent. NZ is also leading the way in white aromatic wines such as Pinot Gris & Gewurztraminer, which are generally made close to the Alsace style and a stunning accompaniment to many Thai and Asian foods. So please feel free to browse our site by using the navigation menu on the left and don’t hesitate to contact us should you wish to learn more about any of the ‘Great Whites’ to come out of NZ.

Man O War 'Valhalla' Waiheke Island Chardonnay 2010
This is Man O War's flagship chardonnay and a great statement of a powerful wine. 2010 was a stunning vintage on Waiheke Island, one of their best ever. The 2010 Valhalla Chardonnay has layers of tropical fruits, stone fruit, and hazelnut, mineral and complex toast/smoke characters. The palate is all about elegance and discreet power with silken texture and vibrant acidity framing a clean fresh uncluttered palate. The wine finishes with its hallmark grapefruit bitterness.

Babich Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2012
This is a classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc that has maintained it's quality through generations of winemaking. The nose displays gooseberry, herbal and tropical notes. It has a delicious palate with a full fruited entry, again gooseberry layered with rock melon and a zesty long mineral / herbal finish. This is the classic Babich style that complements a variety of foods, or drinks equally well on its own.
