Cuisine Magazine NZ Pinot Noir Tasting

Cuisine Magazine is New Zealand's foremost authority on wine, and their tasting results are keenly watched by the wine industry and the public alike. Their latest issue has just been published, focusing on New Zealand Pinot Noir. There were a few surprises in the results, some exciting newcomers as well as some of the old classics that perform year in, year out. The great news overall is of course that 2009 WAS A FANTASTIC VINTAGE out of Central Otago and Marlborough, after the mixed bag that was 2008. Martinborough also delivered a great vintage following on from the 2008 stunner.

Key highlights from the tasting that are stocked by NZWINEONLINE include:

Soho Macqueen Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009 - 1st Place, 5 stars "Outstanding"

WE ARE THE ONLY RETAILER IN AUSTRALIA THAT ARE RECEIVING STOCKS OF THIS FANTASTIC WINE. Nick Stock, who was part of the panel for this tasting, notes "It almost has a three-dimensional tannin structure. The tannins wrap themselves around the fruit and there's a beautiful stride to the finish." Cuisine went on to comment "The wine's origin is immediately detectable in the out-there floral aromatics, which lead to a dark, plump palate. It has a polished, youthful purity, gambolling across the palate like a colt in a paddock. Eat with five-spice roasted duck."

We are only receiving 10 cases of the 2009 Vintage for sale. Available now for pre-order, with the wine beling delivered the week beginning 22 November.  The 2008 is currently in stock (some of our Wine Club Members are enjoying this wine in their current packs). CLICK HERE TO PRE-ORDER.

Gibbston Valley Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009 - 2nd Place, 5 Stars "Outstanding"

"This well-wrought synthesis of red and dark fruit flavours, fine tannins, subtle oak and a big, pristine fruit core exudes charm. An ideal table consort for beef cheeks braised with a hint of anise".

Sadly we have just rolled to the 2008 and the 2009 is not due in stock for quite some months yet.

Spy Valley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2009 - 3rd Place, 5 Stars "Outstanding" and Best Buy

"Right from the beginning, the Pinot vines at this Waihopai Valley winery have revelled in their situation. The wine has consistently delivered excellence at a good price. This latest rendition is classic New World Pinot, compact, bright, taut, with fine, cedary tannins".

There are only about 30 cases of this wine left at our NSW distributors, and no more is available for import. We expect to sell out within 2 weeks so get in quick for this stunning value Pinot at only $27.95. CLICK HERE TO ORDER.

Martinborough Vineyard 'Te Tera' Pinot Noir 2009 - 10th Place, 5 Stars "Outstanding" and Best Buy

"The Only Wairarapa representative in our Top 10, the latest Te Tera again delivers a very favourable price/quality ratio. Brambly aromatics, warm, sweet red fruit ("poached strawberry", noted Nick Stock) and grainy tannins come together in an arresting, demonstrative package. Try it with Turkey and cranberry sauce".

On sales now for just $28.40 - Click here to order.
