Craggy Range 2009 Releases - Their Best Ever

We know - we know. We have been banging on about this 2009 Hawkes Bay vintage to just about anyone who will listen for some time now. And just when we thought we could move on to another topic, Craggy Range come along with their Prestige releases from the 2009 vintage. These wines really do sit at the pinnacle of NZ wine production, and these 2009 wines have received universal acclaim. Find out what all the fuss is about! Some wines are strictly Limited

Craggy Range 'Le Sol' Syrah 2009

97 Points, 5 Stars “Big wine with impressively intense fruit but it is still beautifully structured, with a silken texture. Lots of flavours happening here with layers and layers of ripe berry, spice, savoury and subtle fruit notes. This is the best Le Sol yet.” - Bob Campbell MW, February 2011 www.bobswinereviews.com

An opaque black core with a dark garnet rim. Redolent with black cherry, blueberry, melted liquorice, wild thyme and, of course, black pepper. This is intensely flavoured with layers of fine ripe tannin. The flavours just go on and on. Cellar to 2025+ in good conditions. Will be drinking at it's best from 2017 onwards..

Craggy Range 'Sophia' 2009

20 Points (A perfect score!!), 5 Stars “Very dark, near impenetrable, purple-hued, ruby red in colour, this has a full, intense and concentrated nose of dark plum and spicy berry fruits, beautifully layered with aromas of earth and truffles, and notes of lavender perfumes and lifted oak. Rich and concentrated, this is nearly massive in its density and body, the fruit flavours filling the palate, showing succulent dark plums, liquorice as well as pepper, soy sauce and Oriental spices. The extraction is serious, and provides a powerful structure, yet the tannins are fine and powdery. The wine features incredible tension and freshness from the acidity, and the palate has great length. The balance of the wine offers remarkable accessibility, but this will develop greater interest and complexity over the next 10-15+ years.” - Raymond Chan March 2011

 Craggy Range 'The Quarry' 2009

One of the few Cabernet dominant wines to come out of NZ, and for the first time, The Quarry was made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, such was the quality of the grapes from this vintage. WE HAVE BEEN ALLOCATED 6 BOTTLES OF THIS ENTIRE VINTAGE TO SELL - DEMAND IS STRONG. MAX 2 BOTTLES PER ORDER.

96 Points, 5 Stars “Classic Cabernet Sauvignon with cassis plus hints of floral, oyster shell and blackcurrant bud. Beautiful wine with a seamless structure and reat length. Powerful red that's good now but will be even better with time.” Bob Campbell MW, February 2011, www.bobswinereviews.com

Craggy Range 'Les Beaux Cailloux' Chardonnay '09

95 Points, 5 Stars “A beautifully styled Chardonnay from their Gimblett Gravels vineyard, displaying supremely elegant and complex aromas of white peach, oatmeal, cashew and a touch of vanilla. The palate is concentrated and focused with fine texture and bright acidity, providing an excellent firm structure. The wine flows seamlessly to an exceptionally long finish with layers of delicious flavours and sensual texture. An immensely gratifying wine already but sure to develop greater complexity with time.” - Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz May 2011

This is serious chardonnay folks, only suitable to those with patience and space to put the bottles down for at least 4 years, before all the power and complexity can really begin to integrate. Only 12 bottles available for sale Buy now for $68.95.

Craggy Range 'Te Kahu' Merlot Blend 2009

Te Kahu does not form part of Craggy Range's Prestige collection, but we are so excited about this wine so thought we should pop it on special at the same time.  Blackberry, cinnamon, sandalwood, and oyster shell like minerality mesh for an intense and complex aromatic profile. Layers of fine tannin lend tension to the opulent fruit flavours and provide the framework for the long and intense finish.

Cellar to 2016 - at it's best from 2012 onwards. Match with rich red meat and game dishes.

Buy now for $27.95 - Normally $32.95
