The Importance of Glassware
Having recently attended two master classes on glassware (Riedel & Plumm), we felt it was worthwhile sharing our experiences. The short version is that the shape and size of your glass makes a significant difference to how the wine tastes and smells. We have tested this theory on friends and family - many of whom have limited experience with different glassware, and the results were always the same: When a wine is tasted from the correct shape glass, it enhances the experience of that wine by a significant margin. In fact, the qualities of some wines can be notably impacted when tasted from the wrong glass.
We go in to detail as to the 'how & why' of this in our wine advice section on the site . Please click here for a detailed run-down of the intricacies of glass size and shape. If h owever, you're really just interested in the loot, we have a set of 4 Plumm Crystal Pinot Noir glasses to give away (value $120!) thanks to our good friends at Plumm glassware. Simply e-mail us at customer.service@nzwineonline.com.au and tell us which country has 'Slivovitz' or Plum Brandy as their national drink. Only conditions are that you must live in Australia and be over 18 years of age. Enjoy your time on Wikipedia and good luck!. These are really beautiful glasses to drink out of, so well worth a quick e-mail to go in the draw. For those of you who left your details at our wine tasting event in Sydney for Plumm glassware, we'll be touching base via a seperate e-mail this week.
