Host Your Own Wine Tasting

Trying new wines can be an intimidating experience at times. At a nice restaurant you may be hesitant to try a new NZ wine, as you are probably paying $50+ for the bottle, and want to stick with something you know. At formal wine tastings it's sometimes daunting to ask questions, as you may not know what to look for in new varieties or labels. And down at the local store you may not necessarily get the best advice from the pimply teenager behind the counter! So how do you try new NZ wines - and how do you know what to look for when trying those new wines?

In the process of setting up NZWINEONLINE, there were occasions where friends helped us to sample our wine range and give us market feedback, ensuring we had a broad range of opinions on our chosen range. These tastings were always a great night and we noted how enjoyable it is to try new wines in a comfortable and non-intimidating environment. Supported with the right information and knowledge, people can genuinely expand their interest in wine and broaden their palate, even with little existing understanding of NZ wines.

From the above experience we have created our Wine Tasting Party Packs so that our customers can replicate this experience in their own homes/clubs/workplaces, etc. It's a unique and entertaining way to try some labels or varieties you may not have seen before, or just haven't had the opportunity to try.

How it works:

We have created two pre-chosen party packs of quality NZ wine - A 6 bottle pack and a 12 bottle pack. The wines are accompanied by matching recipes, wine tasting sheets for your guests to take notes on the wines and a NZWINEONLINE Wine Wheel which details all the typical characteristics of NZ wine varieties, so you know what to look for when trying the wines. These are all included in the packs for free and you get the wines at 10% off our normal prices. It's a fun learning and tasting experience, as well as a great excuse to share some wine with friends. Wine Focus - Two Tracks Sauvignon Blanc

There has been a very clear strategy in the NZ Wine indiustry over the last 2-3 years for wineries to create alternate labels under their existing brands. This is great for the consumer, as you get wines made by the same teams as the original label, but at greatly reduced prices. Sometimes the fruit may be of different quality, but often it simply an opportunity for the winemaker to try a different style of wine under a different label.

One of the examples of this strategy is the Wither Hills 'Two Tracks' label. A strong brand and quality winemaking team have combined to  create this great value wine. We stock the Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc on the site, and are fans of both. The Sauvignon Blanc is currently on special at only $13.95, a saving of $5. It's a bright, zingy and herbaceous Marlborough example with crisp fruits and a great balance of acidity to provide a crisp finish. Special finishes 31 August - Snap it up while you can at this great price. Click here to purchase.
