Green Series - Part 2: Organic Wines
Organic winegrowing has bumbled along for some time in New Zealand, being only truly undertaken by a handful of wineries who have pioneered the way for other growers to seriously take notice. The argument for organics is quite simple – No pesticides/chemicals on your grapes, or in your wine, improves the flavour profile of the wine. It also enriches the soils the vines are planted in over the long-term, further enhancing the quality of the grapes. This ‘bumbling’ is now gaining serious momentum with an estimated 100% increase in organically grown grapes between 2008 & 2009. READ MORE HERE

Craggy Range 'Calvert' Pinot Noir Scores 98/100!!!

Each year, Felton Road, Craggy Range and Pyramid Valley divvie up a single vineyard site (Calvert) and go away individually to make seperate wines, both as an experiment on site vs winemaker influences and I suspect as a friendly competition. In 2008, it may very well be that Craggy Range has come up trumps. This wine is truly special - which becomes apparent from the very first whiff as you pour the first glass - what an incredibly aromatic Pinot Noir! Click here to learn more and read Bob Campbell's 98/100 point review.

Perthonians/Perthites/Perthers take note!

We've just dropped our shipping costs to WA down to $19.90...We know, it's still a bit of a cop, but probably still cheaper than that bloke down the road!

New Products

We've been busy adding a whole range of new products to our site since our last newsletter. Check out some of these fantastic new additions:
Man O'War Cabernet Franc Merlot 2007 This wine scored 96/100 in Gourmet Traveller Wine and is a steal at $25.95.
Man O'War 'Ironclad' Waiheke Island Merlot 2008. 'Best New World Red Wine' Steven Spurrier, Decanter Magazine, Jan 2010. We tried this wine last week and simply had to list it on the site immediately! Sits comfortably up there with Coleraine & Sophia. Currently on special at $39.95.
Ara Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2008 & Pinot Noir 2008. We've just brought on board the whole Ara range to our site. These wines all offer incredible quality at their respective price points.
Ara 'Composite' Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2008 & Pinot Noir 2008. The next tier up from their base range. The Composite Pinot in particular is one of the very best on our site under $30. Wonderful complexity and savouriness balance out the trademark fruit-driven Marlborough style. 90/100 from Nick Stock, while the Gold-medal Sauvignon Blanc earnt 91/100 from James Halliday.
Ara 'Resolute' Marlborough Pinot Noir 2007 - Their top offering does not disappoint. 93/100 from James Halliday.
Craggy Range 'Calvert' Pinot Noir 2008 - 98/100 from Bob Campbell. Sits among the World's Elite Pinot Noirs.
Julicher Estate Martinborough Chardonnay 2008 - We've expanded our Julicher range further with the addition of this wonderful Chardonnay. Melon and citrus are beautifully balanced with well-integrated oak, malo influences and a thin line of acidity down the backbone creates great length and finish. Incredible value for a Martinborough Chardonnay at only $24.95.
