Craggy Range 'The Quarry' Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
check out our video review

100% Cabernet Sauvignon.  Dark garnet core with a crimsom rim. Blackberry, briar, crushed autumn leaf, cedar and savoury oak meld for a complex bouquet. This is highly structured wine, where the layers of ripe tannin are enveloped by fleshy fruit flavour. This wine’s generosity extends to a seamless and long finish.

Cellar to 2029+. Match with Venison.

  • 96 Points, 5 Stars “Classic Cabernet Sauvignon with cassis plus hints of floral, oyster shell and blackcurrant bud. Beautiful wine with a seamless structure and reat length. Powerful red that's good now but will be even better with time.” Bob Campbell MW, February 2011, www.bobswinereviews.com
  • 95-97 Points, 5 Stars “This is hard work, as it does not show the immediate charm and delight of Sophia or Le Sol. Instead, this youthful and restrained Cabernet appears less flattering and inexpressive. However, given the pedigree of this label and the superb vintage, I have no doubt, given time, The Quarry 2009 will be as profound as other Craggy Prestige wines (or ample aeration if you were to drink now). The bouquet shows refined aromas of cassis, red plum, floral and subtle spicy oak. The palate is focused and linear, as a classy young Cabernet should be, showing finely textured mouthfeel and beautifully pitched fine, chalky tannins. The wine is meticulously detailed and most promising.” - Sam Kim, www.wineorbit.co.nz May 2011
