Craggy Range 'Gimblett Gravels' Hawkes Bay Chardonnay 2010
Pale straw in colour streaked with youthful green hues. Peach and
nectarine combined with lifted florals of jasmine and acacia indicate
the quality of this vintage. A tighter wine than previous vintages, it is
balanced by the richness of fruit and the nutty, creamy complexity
provided by oak and lees aging.

“A youthful wine showing immense appeal already with lifted aromas of
cream, white peach, vanilla and cashew. The palate is silky and rounded
with excellent weight and concentration, leading to a fabulously long
finish. A highly satisfying Chardonnay with loads of attractive
flavours, and destined to develop greater richness and complexity in
time.”

“Refined, very youthful Hawke’s Bay wine, fully barrel-fermented, with
substantial body and ripe, citrusy flavours, seasoned with biscuity oak.
Concentrated savoury and complex, it’s a classy, tightly structured
wine.”

“The bouquet is gorgeous and sensuous showing white peach, lemon pith
and beautifully infused vanillin oak characters. It's elegant and
refined on the palate showing a delicate fruit expression, chalky
texture and firm acidity providing both structure and length. This is
like tasting an excellent young Burgundy - beautifully complex and
fragrant yet the palate shows firm profile with glimpses of brilliance
and potentially majestic flavours.”
