Amisfield Central Otago Pinot Gris 2010
check out our video review

There is a fantastic complexity to this wine. It has elegant lifted aromas of spice, white peach and ripe pear, with a hint of classic brioche from the barrel fermentation. The palate is refined with a wonderful texture and long finish.

Drink now to 2014+. Match with Potato gnocchi with red pepper sauce, chorizo & olives or vine tomatoes, feta and grilled croutons.

When in Dunedin, and saying how the only Pino Gris that I had every really enjoyed was a Central Otago wine that was dry and more back palate than fruity front palate, I was advised to try the Amisfield. For three weeks traveling through New Zealand I sought it everywhere. Finally tonight it was on the wine list at an Auckland restaurant. What a fantastic wine and a style that if more common would win more converts. Maybe it's just taking some time for the new world to come to terms with this grape, and many other winemakers could learn from Amisfield.
