Martinborough Vineyards Pinot Gris 2010
Martinborough Vineyard Pinot Gris is a big, rich wine with aromas of ripe pear and spice flavours, with floral notes in the background. Made in the Alsatian style, where texture is the key element, this wine shows mouth-filling richness and smoothness on the palate that is well balanced by its phenolic weight and ripeness. A small amount of residual sugar (9.5g/L) balances the textural elements of this wine.
Drinking well now, it will continue to develop in the bottle through 2013+.
2009 Vintage
- 90/100 "Made from small berry (for extra concentration) clone of Pinot Gris
called Lincoln Berrysmith. Half the juice is fermented in old oak
barriques using indigenous yeast while the balance is fermented in
stainless. The two components are blended after nine months. Quite a
rich wine in the style of Alsace with evident sweetness balanced by
cleverly concealed tannins. Concentrated Pinot Gris with the flavours of
exotic fruits and spices and an extremely lengthy finish. A powerful
statement from a top producer." Bob Campbell MW, www.bobswinereviews.com
